Homemade Halloween costumes for adults!?

My husband and I were invited to a Halloween party this year! Never been in one! We thought something "couple" want, but when we went and looked at today, everything is so expensive! We do not have to spend $ 50.00 for each costume! So I thought maybe we should do something .. at home or see what that all he could muster. I am not creative at all! Someone please give me some ideas! Im lost!
